They would
Makes the club easier to sell as well

There is nothing for the taxpayer as it is now except a money pit.

I'm sure DG & DS would take it off their hands to save the government further expense....

Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
You have to dig down to carry the stands on the sides down to the pitch edge.
Once the Athletics championships are done this year there is no point in spending £8m a year to set up for one Grand Prix meeting a summer.
The Daves should be taking the lead in this and playing up the money pit that the taxpayers are stuck with.
The ground has no worth otherwise and we should offer to help the government by digging them out of a hole.
Literally

Can we hope for a termination of the contract?
We dont have another stadium, so a new PROPER one has to be built?

How much is this utterly pointless investigation going to cost?

That Guardian article says the waste is 250 metres to the north of the stadium so it infers the actual pitch has no contamination.

Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
The London Stadium was a legacy of Labour wasn't it? If I remember correctly, it was rubbished as a waste of money at the time it was proposed but overridden by socialist dogma....

Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
So every. Summer to take the seats back and then back in to football mode will cost £8 million? What a total Shit piece of stadia.

Genghis Khan should just sell it to us. Investigate the pricks who designed it and there mongo Olympics legacy. Who gives a Shit about athletics anyways.

Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
The way I see it was that the OC needed West Ham. They needed us to move in so it didn't look like a waste of taxpayers money. The problem was that when they designed they didn't recognise this fact. By the time the Olympics was over they recognised this and West Ham saved them from major embarrassment. If the OC and government got their accounting wrong and the costs have risen then that's their fucking problem. Not ours.

fuck digging down - build it up instead, like a castle.

Who at West Ham would actually do the buying then?
Besides, can anyone really see them getting rid of the athletics legacy this early?
And the tribal rivals fans will kick up a stink if West Ham were to get the offer to buy...

Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
Dig down = 80,000 capacity (est)

A lot of people have predicted that the taxpayer will want to wash it's hands of this burden and the stadium will be handed to West Ham within 10 years.

Sven Roeder 12:22 Fri Jan 20
Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
What would be the best thing for the taxpayer?

After the 2017 World Athletics Championships it should be accepted that the venue has no future as an athletics/football venue particularly as the Olympics will not be in London again in decades.
The conversion costs each summer are ludicrous and unsustainable.

Conclusion : Hand the stadium to West Ham and allow them to commence work to convert the stadium into a football ground.
That may require digging the pitch down a few feet to allow seating to come right up to the pitch.

stewie griffin 12:15 Fri Jan 20
Re: London Mayor to investigate Olympic Stadium
hahahahahaha....love that shit.....yes, let's look only at the conversion costs, because that way you won't have to apportion any blame to the fucking morons in your own party that constructed the piece of shit in the first place.

Embarrassing prick
